Use Incognito Mode Before Uploading Confidential Documents
When you need to quickly analyze an important file—a contract, financial report, or project draft—don't rush to upload it to a regular chat. All developers train their models on user data, and some store information indefinitely. Instead, activate incognito mode: in ChatGPT, it's Temporary Chat; in Claude, it's Incognito. The conversation won't be saved in history and won't be fed into the model's memory.
For example, if you're preparing tax returns and want ChatGPT to help you with calculations, but the document contains personal data—open Temporary Chat, upload the PDF, and get an analysis without risk. The same applies if you're editing a business letter or reviewing a commercial proposal with confidential information.
An important note: Gemini, Grok, Copilot, and DeepSeek do not have this mode, so for these services, remove or mask sensitive data before uploading. It will take a minute but will protect your information from being included in training datasets.
